Family Reunion

I didn't take enough pictures of my family while in Tucson this past Saturday. But at least I managed to take a couple to remember the evening.

My aunt Margo (my dad's sister) hosted a small family get-together so we could all see my cousin Patty and her kids Jackson and Emily while they were in town for the weekend.

Growing up in Tucson, we spent quite a bit of time with our aunts and uncles and cousins. We always had a good time together. So it's fun to see the next generation of cousins having so much fun together as well. It's so important for us to know our family, and remember where we come from.

It was so nice to catch up with everyone and talk about old times. Being there in the same room with my dad, my aunt Margo, and their cousin, Norma-- I knew my Grandpa Guerrero was probably there (in spirit) too. He would have LOVED to have everyone together like that. No one can mention his name without choking up...because he was so special. Think George Burns look-alike, he was little like him and had the best sense of humor.

The thing about family, is when we have them near us all the time, we tend to take them for granted. It's only when they move away do we realize how much we enjoy their company and need them in our lives.
Family can be complicated, but in the end, it means the most.

My great-grandpa Eduardo Guerrero was born in Seville, Spain. He came to this country when he was 12 years old and fought in the Spanish-American War. And he went on to make a fortune off growing and selling garbanzo beans. He married Beatriz and they had 6 children together
(one of which was my grandpa).
My grandpa Edward Guerrero was born in Mexico and while he married an American, he didn't become an official US citizen until around 1974 or so.
I'm so fascinated by this history of mine...I want to know more!
