2. You come to the realization that any insecurities, worries, judgments, mistakes experienced during our childhood made us stronger, better human beings--and hopefully a little more compassionate.
3. You appreciate days spent with old (dear) friends that much more because you know it doesn't happen often enough.
4. You get a real kick out of watching your child play with your friend's children and think to yourself "how surreal this is."
5. You get to go out to Flemings for a nice meal with your (handsome, charming) husband and close friends and order whatever you want, including TWO bottles of Pinot Noir.
6. You make enough money to pay for #5 and not sweat it.
7. You realize that appearances aren't everything--that it's more important to be authentic and like yourself...and then all the good stuff just falls into place around you.
On the other hand...if anyone had tried to tell me all of this 10 years ago, I wouldn't have listened or believed them anyway. Which leads me to my final reason why getting older is fun:
8. With age, comes knowledge.
Happy Birthday to Me! (It's actually on the 26th)
